Simon Alexander Ong, leadership coach, business analyst, speaker, and author, joins Jerry for an episode Dear Asian Europeans to talk about the process of going from the corporate world of banking to entrepreneurship and taking a chance on yourself. Simon shares about his family’s journey from Malaysia to the U.K., finding success as an entrepreneur, and the very challenging process of writing a book in the midst of a pandemic AND being a new parent. He also talks about where his energy comes from: his physical health and fitness. Listen in as Jerry and Simon discuss the varying experiences of the Asian diaspora, the importance of following your heart and being open to what it says, and why taking up space in places we historically have not, hits differently with audiences that look like us.
Meet Simon
Simon Alexander Ong is a personal development entrepreneur, coach and public speaker. His clients are from all walks of life but they share one trait; they all believe that the greatest investment you can make is in yourself. His work has seen him invited onto Sky News and BBC to be interviewed, while Barclays featured him in a nationwide campaign asking him questions on how families could embrace better lifestyle habits.
His insights have seen him featured in Forbes, The FT and The Guardian. He also regularly speaks at organisations (these have included Salesforce, Microsoft, EY, Adobe and Unilever) and keynotes at public events and conferences. His new book Energize was published by Penguin in April this year and received endorsements from the likes of New York Times bestselling authors Simon Sinek, Marie Forleo and Dr Marshall Goldsmith.
